Microplastic shedding worse in textile blends, scientists warn

Cotton-polyester blended fabrics release significantly more microplastics than pure polyester textiles, according to new peer-reviewed research.

While previous studies have focused on 100 per cent polyester fabrics, this new research is the first to quantify the amount of synthetic microplastics released from blended textiles during washing.
