Italy fines Shein €1m for alleged greenwashing

ROME – Italy’s competition watchdog has fined online fast fashion giant Shein €1m for alleged greenwashing of its products.

The penalty, announced by the Italian Competition Authority (AGCM), follows an investigation launched in September 2024 and marks the second financial sanction against Shein in Europe in just over a month. On 3 July, France imposed a €40m fine on the company for similar violations, including deceptive discounting and unsubstantiated sustainability claims.
