GENEVA – The Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) has announced it is will not commission or participate in a standalone global life cycle assessment (LCA) of Better Cotton. The cotton standard claimed standalone LCAs are not, “an appropriate tool to make general, system-wide, global comparisons between identity cottons and conventional cotton.”
It added: “The fact that BCI’s portfolio in terms of geographies is completely different from that of organic or conventional, and the seasons of analysis vary means the results are not comparable.”
