Zara launches recycled collection with Circ

NEW YORK – Zara has announced a new women’s collection created in collaboration with Circ, a U.S.-based fashion technology company that specialises in recycling textile waste into new fibres. The collection features garments made with Circ Lyocell, a fabric that is made from 50 per cent recycled textile waste.

This launch follows Zara and Circ’s inaugural collection in April 2023, which introduced garments made with recycled polyester and lyocell. The latest collection consists of four pieces, all made from 100 per cent Circ Lyocell. Designed by Zara’s team, the new collection will be available starting August 15 in the U.S. and select international markets.

One of the major challenges in the fashion industry has been breaking down polyester and cotton blends—commonly known as “polycotton”—to create recycled raw materials for new clothing. Circ’s pioneering technology claims to offer a breakthrough by being the first to effectively separate polycotton textile waste and recover both the cellulosic and synthetic fibres.

“For us, success is when circularity becomes the norm, without compromising on quality or design,” said Peter Majeranowski, CEO of Circ. “Our latest collection with Zara is a step toward creating a model for the widespread adoption of sustainable materials. This partnership also underscores the long-term potential for Circ and Inditex to collaborate on improving product circularity within the fashion industry, all while demonstrating the high quality of Circ’s products.”

Zara is part of Inditex, a global fashion retail group that also owns brands like Pull&Bear, Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Stradivarius, Oysho, and Zara Home.
