WASHINGTON – In a significant legal move, Shein, the global online fashion giant, has filed a lawsuit against Temu, the rapidly growing e-commerce platform. Shein accuses Temu of running an “unlawful enterprise” built on a foundation of counterfeiting, trade secret theft, and intellectual property infringement. The lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.
The legal battle, initiated by Roadget Business Pte. Ltd., Shein’s parent company, targets PDD Holdings Inc., the parent company of Temu, and WhaleCo Inc., which operates Temu in the U.S. The complaint also implicates additional unnamed defendants, alleging that they collectively operate a business model that undermines Shein’s market position through illegal means.
