GENEVA – Around a quarter of initial signatories to the UN Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action have now left the initiative according to an updated report. As of February 22, 2023, 99 companies including brands, suppliers and retailers have committed to the goals of the charter, while in the last three years, 31 signatories have left.

The report outlines progress by Charter signatories – or lack thereof – in reducing carbon emissions in own operations and supply chains. Interestingly, signatories are now using a base year of 2020 to benchmark progress, despite the charter having been formed in Katowice, Poland in 2018.
