ISTANBUL – Textile exports from Turkey are down by just over a fifth following recent earthquakes in the region where approximately one third of textile production is based. A report by Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters’ Association (ITHIB) shows exports of the Turkish textile and raw materials sector fell by 9.9 per cent in January 2023 compared to January 2022, and by 21.2 per cent in February 2023 compared to February 2022. The fall for the latter amounted to around US$891m.
