BONN – The UN Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action (UNFCCC) has proved to be little more than a talking shop since being established five-years ago, an update from UN Climate Change News suggests. Speaking at a two-day meeting of the UNFCCC in Germany last week, UN Climate Change executive secretary, Simon Stiell, was surprisingly candid in his observations.
He said the only progress made by signatories, which includes many of the world’s leading fashion brands, includes complying with basic reporting requirements, disclosing more climate-related information and “collaborating with each other.”
