OSLO – A group of investors which hold sizeable positions in many of the world’s leading apparel retailers have called for less pilots and more “mainstream activity” regarding living wages in garment supply chains. The investors have now published a report outlining progress on living wages in the supply chains of 13 apparel retailer investee businesses. Of the retailers evaluated, adidas was the only one to fall into the ‘leading’ category. ‘Maturing’ retailers include Esprit, Gildan, ASOS, H&M, Puma, Inditex, M&S and KappaAhl. VF Corp, Hanes, Asics and Renner were classed as ‘developing’. LVMH and Kering are classed as in the ’embryonic’ stage.
