France moves ahead with eco labelling for textiles

PARIS – In France this week for the International Wool Textile Organisation (IWTO) conference, we heard from Vincent Colomb, coordinator for Eco-labelling projects at ADEME (Environment and Energy Management Agency). Colomb gave a presentation on the recently announced French fashion eco-labelling proposals based on the Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) methodology. Approved by the European Commission last week, the new scheme allows for the voluntary display of the environmental cost of clothing. Implementation will be in the second half of 2025.
