LONDON – Fast fashion and luxury brands have come under fire following new research linking their purchasing practices to widespread labour rights violations across the globe. The Business & Human Rights Resource Centre has documented 28 cases of alleged abuses from March to September 2024, involving renowned brands such as H&M, Ralph Lauren, ASOS, MANGO, Michael Kors, COACH, and Gucci.
The reported violations have affected thousands of garment workers in countries including Indonesia, Portugal, the Philippines, eSwatini, Argentina, China, Estonia, Kenya, Bangladesh, and Romania.
