LONDON – A new report claims some of fashion’s biggest and most prominent certification schemes and industry initiatives are simply providing a licence to greenwash. The report analysed ten certification labels and industry initiatives used by fashion brands to assess or measure their sustainability, investigating whether the schemes are fit for purpose in addressing the harms of the modern fashion industry. These included schemes and programmes by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, Textile Exchange, WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Programme), Cradle2Cradle, and The Higg Index by the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC).
