AMSTERDAM – A new investigation by the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) found the sustainability claims of six out of ten fashion retailers examined were found to be greenwashing. In late May, ACM contacted over 70 companies in the clothing sector, asking them to take a critical look at their sustainability claims. ACM subsequently checked sustainability-related claims made by ten major clothing companies for accuracy, clarity, and verifiability of the information.
