BRUSSELS – A group of NGOs led by the Coalition to End Forced Labour in the Uyghur Region have called for the EU to introduce import controls to block or seize the imports of goods made with forced labour in Xinjiang, China. The coalition wants the EU to go down the same route as the USA which has issued Withhold Release Orders on cotton-based products from the Uyghur Region. Such orders have led to the seizure of more than 1,400 containers at the US ports, many containing cotton and textile products with links to Xinjiang.
