BERLIN – Zalando, an European online platform for fashion and lifestyle, is to launch a first beta version of a fashion assistant powered by ChatGPT across its app and web platforms. The company said the move will allow it to “unlock the potential of generative AI to enhance the experience of discovering and shopping for fashion online.”
However, the move comes as a surprise given ongoing concerns about the rapid evolution of AI technology, and scrutiny around ChatGPT due to claims around plagiarism and potential data breaches. Some of the biggest names in tech recently called for artificial intelligence labs to stop the training of the most powerful AI systems for at least six months, citing “profound risks to society and humanity.”
OpenAI recently announced GPT-4, an even more powerful version of the technology that underpins the viral AI chatbot tool, ChatGPT.
