OREGON – A recent study has uncovered widespread contamination of seafood species with anthropogenic particles (APs), including microplastics, along the U.S. West Coast. The most common microplastics were synthetic fibres representing 82 per cent of all plastics found.
The researchers discovered contaminants in nearly all tested specimens, raising concerns about the potential impacts on human health and marine ecosystems.
