WASHINGTON – Walmart and Centric Brands are investigating their Cambodian apparel supply chains in the wake of allegations that the country’s largest women’s prison used inmates for illegal garment production aimed at export markets.
International and Cambodian laws prohibit the trade of goods made by inmates, while the International Labour Organization (ILO) allows prison labour only if it’s voluntary.
