MISSOURI – A lawsuit in the US has accused sports brand Nike of greenwashing. The proposed class action claims Nike deceived customers by falsely marketing its products as “sustainable,” made with “sustainable materials,” and “environmentally friendly.” The action claims Nike’s products do not live up to these claims, and cites the Federal Trade Commission’s Green Guides. Similar to guidance issued by several European states, these guides warn against overstating a product’s environmental attributes.
