AMSTERDAM – A global union has questioned how H&M can justify its continued presence in Myanmar after many fashion brands divested from the country. Myanmar is currently under the leadership of a military dictatorship, with unions and many civil rights groups banned in the country. H&M is one of the few global brands to maintain a sourcing presence there, although it might reasonably argue that were it to exit Myanmar, many jobs would be lost and factories closed.
