LONDON – The UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has written to 17 well-known fashion brands warning them about greenwashing. The CMA has advised the brands to “review their business practices,” and warned them the CMA will soon have strengthened consumer powers under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024. This will enable the CMA to fine businesses up to 10 per cent of their worldwide turnover if they break consumer law.
