LONDON – Two new grants have been launched in the UK to fund projects which will drive the recycling of textiles and plastic packaging. Grants totalling £4.7m will be managed by WRAP as part of the £18m Resource Action Fund, launched by Defra in May 2019. Applicants will be able to apply for between £200,000 and £1m. The focus of the textiles grant will be on supporting infrastructure that can better sort and process used textiles and clothing and prevent them being discarded. It is hoped the funding could pave the way for the first ever textiles recycling plant in the UK.
