IZMIR – Makum Alagöz, president of the Turkish textile workers’ union DERİTEKS, was this week shot by the brother of the owner of Akar Textile – a tier-1 apparel supplier to global fashion brands including Zara, Mango, H&M and Superdry. The incident happened after Akar Textile declared a concordat, a commonly used alternative to avoid bankruptcy in Turkey.
