MILAN – Italian insulation specialist Thermore has launched the latest version of its Ecodown Fibers which provide a unique twist on conventional insulation. Via use of a 3D colour effect, the business has managed to yield “infinite colours and possibilities in a marble effect. “The progress in fabric technology now allows fabrics to be very resistant and so light that you can see through them,” the business told Apparel Insider. “We felt the apparel world was ready for the next challenge: using insulation to give garments unique visual interest.”

Thermore told its Ecodown Fibers Marble aim to “bring insulation into a new era” by turning it into art. Asked whether this is an industry first, the business told us: “Yes, absolutely. This is a real first for a thermal insulation product. In the past, some companies experimented printing on the insulation, but results were substandard and definitely not wash resistant. The innovative concept of the Ecodown Fibers Marble is that it consists of different fibres which create the unique and durable marble effect.”

They added: “We realised there was very little to improve, technically. There was only one thing that we could change with this product and it would make all the difference: the way it looks.”
