BRUSSELS – New data shows a significant rise in textile consumption among EU citizens. According to a briefing by the European Environment Agency (EEA), average textile consumption in the EU rose from 17 kilograms per person in 2019 to 19 kilograms in 2022. This is roughly the equivalent of a large suitcase filled with new clothes, household textiles, and footwear per person.
