LONDON – A study published in Tekstil ve Konfeksiyon (Vol. 34, No. 4, 2024) reveals that consumer laundry routines, especially with distressed and fuzzy garments, significantly contribute to microfibre pollution. Researchers Aligina Anvitha Sudheshna, Meenu Srivastava, and C. Prakash found that consumer washing habits release 110 per cent more microfibres into water systems compared to controlled laboratory settings.
