ALBERTA – Researchers in Canada claim to have discovered why polyester T-Shirts smell worse than cotton after sweating. Their study, published in the Textile Research Journal, revealed that plant-derived fibres like cotton and viscose absorb and release fewer odour-causing compounds compared to polyester, nylon, and wool. Polyester, being oil-loving, absorbs more odorants, making it smellier. Nylon and wool initially absorb more odorants but release them faster, reducing long-term smelliness.
