JYVÄSKYLÄ – Brazilian pulp group Suzano and Finnish cellulose fibre tech business Spinnova are to build a plant in Finland to make textile fibres from wood and agricultural waste streams. The pair will make an estimated €22m investment to build a commercial scale production facility in Finland, although total investment is said to be around €50m. Spinnova, which has already collaborated with H&M and Bestseller on test-runs, says it will be announcing a number of new brand partnerships and products later this year. The company says it expects to fill the new factory’s production capacity during 2021.
Suzano will also supply the site with micro-fibrillated cellulose obtained from eucalyptus on its land in South America.
