SAN FRANCISCO – The Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) and its tech spin-off Higg Co claim to have developed a new tool that can evaluate the full environmental impact of garment products. The latest incarnation of the Higg Product Module (PM) goes beyond the Higg MSI, which focuses on the measurement of cradle to factory gate impacts, to consider other issues such as “design, manufacturing, packaging, logistics, excess production, product durability, care, and end of use.” The SAC says more than 150 companies have already used the product tool to assess over 1,000 products.
