JINJIANG – Anta Sports, China’s largest sportswear company, posted revenue of 22.81 billion yuan (US$3.52bn) in the first half of 2021, as its sales in China surpassed those of German sportswear giant Adidas. Analysts believe the growth of the company is down to rising patriotism among Chinese consumers and a backlash against western apparel due to the boycott of Xinjiang cotton from brands such as H&M, adidas and Nike.
Anta and Fila, the core brands of the Fujian-based company, posted revenue of 10.58 billion yuan and 10.82 billion yuan, respectively.
