SKOGSUDDEN – A Swedish business which has devised a technique for extracting cotton from poly-cotton blends for use in the apparel industry says it is targeting the recycling of 300t of used textiles in 2020 – and has a 2025 target of 25,000 tonnes. The company, which is in touch with numerous brands, including from the fast fashion sector, says it is accepting feedstock from laundering companies that otherwise would have incinerated the textile waste.
Since launching last year, the company told Apparel Insider it has been overwhelmed with responses from more than 100 companies globally that can supply white textiles, such as hotels and hospitals.
