LONDON – Garments made with recycled polyester released 2.3 times more microfibres than those made with virgin polyester in a study using controlled washes. Knitted fabrics made with recycled polyester and virgin polyester were washed three times under the same conditions. Researchers suggest the higher release of fibres produced with recycled polyester may be due to their shorter fibre length.
