ALICANTE – Pyratex has partnered with materials science company Recover to create a new line of recycled cotton fabrics. This collaboration combines Recover’s expertise in the mechanical recycling of cotton fibre with Pyratex’s knowledge of spinning and knitting to develop high-quality fabrics that incorporate between 30-50 per cent recycled cotton blended with organic cotton.
The goal of the partnership is to scale the use of recycled materials in the fashion industry without sacrificing quality. The fabrics are produced using textile waste recycled at Recover’s facility in Spain, with the fibres spun and knitted into fabrics at Pyratex’s facility in Portugal. Both companies emphasise transparency in their supply chains and are committed to ethical sourcing and manufacturing practices.
Regina Polanco, CEO of pyratex, said the partnership has allowed them to offer luxurious fabrics made from 100 per cent traceable recycled cotton blends. Boris Mercier, senior vice president of marketing at Recover, added that the collaboration provides brands with sustainable materials that meet their quality and price requirements.
