BEIJING – China has threatened to blacklist US fashion retail group, PVH Corp, over its boycott of Xinjiang cotton. PVH, which owns brands including Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger, may be placed on China’s “unreliable entities list,” a development likely to raise concerns among international companies operating in the country.
In a statement, the Chinese commerce ministry gave PVH 30 days to clarify whether it had discriminated against products from Xinjiang over the past three years. The ministry accused the company of violating market trading principles by “unreasonably boycotting” Xinjiang cotton without proper justification.
