LONDON – Clothing and footwear brands are “paying the bus ticket and expecting to fly,” according to one garment factory owner interviewed for a major new report into apparel sourcing practices by Human Rights Watch. The civil society NGO interviewed workers in Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Myanmar, and Pakistan, as well as garment suppliers from South and Southeast Asia and other industry stakeholders and found the same old story of how aggressive cost cutting negatively impacts workers.
