LONDON – UK fashion retailer Next has announced plans to increase prices on selected clothing items in response to a significant £73m rise in staff wages and taxes.
The retailer attributed the rising costs to measures introduced in the autumn Budget, including higher National Insurance contributions by employers and an increase in the National Living Wage. Despite these pressures, the company said it would limit the price increase to 1 per cent, which remains below the current inflation rate.
