MONTREAL – A ground-breaking new study has provided the first Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) comparing microfibre pollution from cotton and polyester. For the first time, scientists directly compared the impacts of natural fibres such as cotton and viscose with synthetics like polyester when they enter rivers and oceans as microfibres.
