BRUSSELS – Mongolia has developed a new textile standard in an effort to promote its cashmere and wool sectors to the global apparel industry while supporting traditional pastoralist livelihoods. The cashmere and wool sectors are a key driver of the Mongolian economy and second only to the extractive industry.
The new standard covers issues such as the rational use of natural resources, energy consumption, the use of chemicals, industrial waste, social responsibility, labour protection, and animal rights.
