LONDON – Apparel and textile manufacturing along with cotton farming are claimed to be among the sectors with the largest potential impact on water resources according to a new index. Developed by the Carbon Disclosure Project, the tool suggests oil and gas extraction and mining are also among the sectors found to have the largest potential impact on water resources.
The CDP says it has developed the tool to provide “capital markets with the information needed to take action on water security – an area where progress has lagged behind other environmental issues, such as climate change, both in terms of how well the risks are understood, and how well integrated they are into investment decisions.”
