MEPs urge Brussels to widen textile ecodesign rules

BRUSSELS – 15 MEPs have urged the European Commission not to limit upcoming textile ecodesign rules to recyclability and recycled content alone.

In a letter to environment commissioner Jessika Roswall and director-general for environment Eric Mamer, the cross-party group said the forthcoming Delegated Act for textiles under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation should also include requirements linked to, “sustainably sourced renewable materials.”
