SAN FRANCISCO – Amazon and H&M will publicly share data on a product’s alleged environmental impact as part of a new programme with the Sustainable Apparel Coalition and its spin-off outfit, Higg Co. The first phase of the new programme will focus on evaluating material environmental impacts using data from the contentious Higg Materials Sustainability Index (MSI).
The initiative aims to provides a way for brands, retailers, and manufacturers to share information on apparel and footwear products, across impact categories such as water use, greenhouse gas emissions, and use of fossil fuels.
