NEW YORK – A new US report has ranked the climate commitments of the world’s leading apparel retailers. Researchers concluded that Levi Strauss & Co. and American Eagle Outfitters are the only leading brands that have announced meaningful climate commitments to move their supply chains away from fossil fuels. Burberry, Gap, H&M and Puma are also praised, however, dozens of members of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition are heavily criticised in the report for failing to “set any meaningful climate goals.” The companies ranked are all part of one or more of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, the UN Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action, or the G7 Fashion Pact.
