Hemp – a new feedstock for Lyocell fibres?

CHEMNITZ – A major German-government backed project is looking at sustainable ways to develop man-made Lyocell fibres derived from organically grown hemp. The project, which has already shown remarkably promising results, has been established in response to booming global fibre demand and an accepted need within the apparel sector for new approaches to safeguard the future availability of dissolving pulps for fibre production.

Levi’s and Patagonia are two leading brands making major strides with hemp in their collections.Apparel Insider sources suggest two other major brands are also investigating hemp’s possibilities.
