German ruling targets misuse of ‘vegan leather’ labels

COLOGNE – A German court has ruled the term ‘vegan leather’ can no longer be used to market synthetic or plant-based materials. The landmark ruling was prompted by a dispute over ‘apple leather’ dog collars sold by Mina Merchandising GmbH, however, its implications extend far beyond this single case.
