LONDON – The International Fur Federation (IFF), which represents the global fur industry, has launched a new certification and traceability system called ‘Furmark’ which claims to “guarantee animal welfare and environmental standards” (yes you read that right).
The federation is describing its certification as a “game-changer” for the fur sector, however, it’s difficult to say how this is the case given that animals will still be bred and slaughtered for no other reason than to provide fashion.
