PARIS – The French Parliament has passed new legislation which will introduce mandatory environmental labelling for all consumers goods – with garments and textiles a priority. The new regulations will be brought in as part of the Climate Bill, and will see the development of a new LCA methodology to calculate the environmental footprint of textiles.
New product environmental labels would essentially aim to set up a “carbon score” for products – in theory informing consumers of the environmental footprint of their purchases.
