BRUSSELS – Fashion companies will have to send any green claims they make for verification by a third party – or risk fines of at least at 4% of their annual turnover. This is according to a draft EU law which has now been passed by the European Parliament.
However, a spokesperson for the European Union told Apparel Insider there will be flexibility regarding which third party verifies green claims and this could differ significantly between Member States.
