BRUSSELS – The European Commission has adopted a delegated act removing cattle hides, skins and leather from the scope of the EU Deforestation Regulation. The move ands the European tanning industry a significant regulatory victory.
The amendment covers raw cattle hides and skins, tanned or crust hides and further-prepared bovine leather. Beef and other cattle products will remain subject to the regulation.
