BRUSSELS – The fashion industry must end its toxic relationship with rampant economic growth, claims a new report commissioned by the European Environmental Bureau. The report claims only a radical rethink of its economic model can curb the fashion industry’s sustainability problem and enable the industry to meet its CO2 reduction targets.
The report was written by UTS Institute for Sustainable Futures, Centre for Innovation Research (CIRCLE) at Lund University and Erasmus University Rotterdam. It arrives at a time when questions are being raised in sustainability circles about the growth at all costs approach to economic development.
