LONDON – Suppliers to UK retailer Debenhams are being offered just 10 per cent of the value of orders after the department store slipped into administration for a second time. Suppliers declining the offer from Debenham’s administrators are being warned they face bearing the cost of shipping their products back from the UK to the port of origin.
Debenhams is not the only struggling British retailer which has not been able to pay for stock from foreign suppliers. Numerous Bangladeshi suppliers have been left high and dry by Peacocks, with many we have spoken to still being owed six figure sums by the beleaguered retailer. Peacocks has not been responding to emails and other forms of communication from suppliers for several weeks.
