GUANGDONG – China has switched on its first fully automated textile waste sorting line with Databeyond Technology, an AI and optoelectronics company. The new system combines machine vision and hyperspectral imaging to sort post-consumer garments by fibre type and blend, hitting purities of over 90 per cent for polyester, cotton and nylon and identifying common elastane blends. Throughput is around two tonnes per hour.
